Appeals & Collection Due Process Hearings

When you have a disagreement over a determination made by an IRS employee, you have the right to file an Appeal or request a Collection Due Process Hearing.  This is a written request and is time sensitive.  Once your case is forwarded to the appropriate appeals office, an experienced Appeals or Settlement Officer will be assigned.  You will have the opportunity to discuss the items or actions with which you don’t agree and formulate alternate resolutions. If you disagree with the decision at Appeals you have the right to take the action to court.
